The majority of Americans are overweight. So, it is no wonder "fad diets" are so popular.
Weight loss is on everyone’s mind at some point. There is always a “new fad diet” that everyone is crazy about. More and more famous people of all walks of life are promoting these diets.
Personally, I have never been one to try the latest diet fad or pill. I have always had a hard time understanding the hype about it. I mean what do you do when the diet is over? The things that you eat are not sustainable. You can’t keep eating only smoothies and kale for the rest of your life! So, what makes these “diets” so appealing?
I think because it is a quick fix. Getting results fast without changing your eating habits or not having to work out. If it was really that easy then everyone would be skinny don’t you think? Skinny mind you not healthy. So, consider a different way of approaching weight loss.
Consider changing your eating habits or your work out habits. Either one. For the sake of confusion, I will talk about changing the eating habits.
If you start with a healthy breakfast for a week. Concentrate on strictly eating a healthy breakfast no matter what. Get up a little earlier to fix you something delish to get your day started right. Try it for a week or even two weeks. Be aware of the changes in your body and in how you “feel”. Are you less groggy in the morning? Is your mood better after you get going?
Do you have more energy?
Once, you have a healthy breakfast established then move to a healthy snack. Do that for a week along with the healthy breakfast. Then continue each week by adding another healthy item to the daily menu. In general, you should be eating 5 to 6 small meals a day. This means, breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks. If you happen to have a bad week and had slipped up, then just repeat the week. It’s that simple. Once it is established you will realize you are eating healthy ALL THE TIME!! You will also, start to understand how easy and delicious healthy eating can be. The weight will start to melt away.
Key points to remember, cut soft drinks out completely!! No diet or regular soft drinks. If you knew what soft drinks were used for and what is in them you may consider not drinking them anyway. Increase the water intake. If you drink 5 soft drinks a day switch it to 5 glasses of water or more a day. Put fruit or a low sugar water flavoring in it if you have trouble drinking water. What ever you must do to drink the water do it. Our bodies are made up of mostly water and we lose a lot of water through daily activities. So, replenish yourself. You will feel better.
If your stomach is growling. Consider when you ate last and determine if it is hunger pains or dehydration pains. Yes, it is a thing. When hydrated properly your skin will glow and your body will function better. Your belly won’t growl either.
So, consider a change, a serious life style change and see if you don’t start to lose the weight. You are already cooking for you and your family the only difference is your just using different ingredients. That is the easy part about it.
