Being a Health Coach I get asked what I think about this diet or that diet all the time. I am a Health Coach. I teach you how to eat clean without all the “diets”. I help you understand how healthy eating can help you now and when you get older. Considering the question keeps coming up I decided to do my research on the latest "fad diet". The Keto diet.
The history of the Keto diet, most may not know. I found it interesting. This diet started out in helping children with Epilepsy. A disorder in which nerve cell activity in the brain is disturbed, causing seizures. It was called the “Ketogenic Diet” designed by Dr. Russell Wilder and his team at the Mayo Clinic in the early 1920s.
This diet is like fasting without really fasting.
When eating on this diet you can’t eat
I am not sure about you but, fruits and sweet potatoes would be hard for me to give up for the rest of my life. That is because I would have to stay on this diet for the rest of my life to keep the results I will get. I am not ready for that, are you?
My research also, revealed that the it may not promote significant long-term weight loss. So, why would I want to do this diet?
If the Keto diet worked for you that is awesome!! I am happy for you.
The problem I have with this diet and other diets is that they have an expiration date. Most diets you can’t sustain for a life time. It is a balance we must all find for ourselves.
Instead of trying the latest and greatest “fad diet” why not learn how to eat healthy? Eating healthy is sustainable. You can continue to do it for the rest of your life. No special foods. No special routines you must do. No secret formula you must follow. Just eat healthy. You already know what to eat. Lean meats, veggies, fruits, whole grains and some healthy fats. That’s it!!
Why not let me help you find your happy medium in the land of food confusion?
