What makes healthy people so happy?
You have seen them or you know them.
They are always HAPPY!!. Super nice people that always sees the positive in EVERYTHING!!
Annoying right? (If you are not annoyed by these people then maybe you are one of them) just sayin. But, have you wondered how do they stay positive?
I am going to let you in on a little secrete of how they do it...... Exercise.
Yep, so much good stuff is released in their bodies when they work out. So much in fact that they can't help themselves but, to be happy.
When we exercise we release chemicals into our blood stream and our brains. I will give you the low down on them and how they affect our bodies.
Dopamine is the "motivation" and "reward" brain chemical. When you have a long to do list and you are motivated to get through the list and you feel good when you do. That is dopamine at it's finest.
Norepinephrine flow into the blood stream during exercise. You become more alert and focused. They also, boost memory retrieval. which will help you retrieve information better. So, try working out before you take a test. What will you have to lose?
Studies at University of Illinois found that exercise increases congnitive control (the ability to have your mind over ride your impluse.) in kids with ADHD. After 20 minutes of exercise the kids were able to focus and scored higher on tests. See, working out before a test really works.
BDNF Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor. BDNF for short acts as a growth factor and promotes the formation of new connections between nerve cells or neurons. It also, repairs damaged nerve cells. Exercise increased BDNF production by 3 times.
Serotonin is a mood boosting brain chemical. Millions take anti-depressant medications to raise serotonin levels but, exercise does it naturally.
Last but, not least Endorphins. Endorphins trigger positive feelings in the body similar to that of morphine. endorphins are a "natural painkiller" they activate opioid receptors in the brain which in turn helps minimize discomfort. Allowing you to exercise longer or harder.
Endorphins also, calm fear and anxiety. making you feel more at peace with yourself.
Exercise seems to do so much more for the body besides make it look amazing. You actually FEEL amazing!!
Now you know why healthy people are such a positive force to be around. They have so much good stuff happening all at the same time.
