The time of season when NO ONE is safe from the daunting, cringing, don't-wish-this-on-my-worst-enemy FLU is upon us.
Yep, it's that time of year. Flu season. It is all over Facebook everyone is sick as dogs and are out of commission for a week or longer. Not only feeling bad but, the horrible cough that lingers week after week.
I was one to catch it all. Stomach virus, bird flu, dog flu, a cold, allergies, sinus infection you name it I would get it. (I know you can't catch allergies or a sinus infection) I am a little dramatic.
For the past 3 years I have done things differently then I have before. I hate to say this out loud because I get superstitious BBBUUUTTT, in doing things differently I haven't been sick. NOPE not even a cold.
Want to know my secret? 3 simple things that will change your way of thinking and help keep you healthy all at the same time.
My diet. Not a "diet" but, my diet, the way I eat. This is a big part of how I stay healthy. It helps my immune system stay strong so it can fight off all the crazy shit that is going around.
I eat more veggies now then, I ever have in my whole life. Even when I was a kid and my mom served a veggie at every dinner.
More fruits less sugar and junk. YES, I still eat crap from time to time but, it doesn't taste as good as before. So, I don't enjoy it as much.
If it is delivered in the produce section of your grocery store then I will be eating it.
Exercise. Yep, I try to get in some kind of activity each day. I have several runs coming up so I am focused on my cardio right now. But, I still love my home workouts. That is the most convenient way to get a work out in. You don't have to leave the house or kids and most are 30 minutes long and BAM!!! you are done. Super simple and you will get results for sure.
Get moving!! It is just that simple. Find something you like and stick with it. You can change it up or do the same thing. What works best for you that is key.
